Sugar Jones Members:
Who Is Sugar Jones?
The Canadian show Popstars showed the public what it takes to be a pop star and how hard it is to make it. Their dreams came true when they formed the pop group Sugar Jones in April of 2001. The girls all come from different backgrounds and each one brings something special to the group. Sahara Macdonald studied with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, took vocal training. Julie Crochetiere studied classical piano, jazz and ballet from an early age. Mirella Dell' Aquila used to be in a band and has four years of vocal training. Andrea Henry is a former model and sang in her school choir in productions. Maiko Watson has been singing her whole life and began dance training with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet when she was four.
Sugar Jones' Big Break
The girls chose the name Sugar Jones after Sahara MacDonald stumbled upon a book in a thrift shop called Sugar Street. She liked the title but thought 'street' sounded too sweet. From there the group decided on Jones and the name Sugar Jones was born. Sugar Jones signed to Universal and released their first single Days Like That in 2001 and they followed up with their self-titled album. They realize being part of the group Sugar Jones is a pretty sweet deal and they've worked hard to get where they are.
