The Black Eyed Peas have teamed up with the folks at Snickers to bring you five webisodes featuring the Peas as hip-hop superheroes! Check out the Instant Def series for new music from will.i.am and to watch the Peas defend old-school hip-hop against corruption. apl.de.ap sits down with Kidzworld to give us the low down on Instant Def, his new label and all the inside gossip from The Black Eyed Peas. Check it out!
Sindy: Hey apl! Why don't you begin by telling us a little about Instant Def?
apl.de.ap: It's really cool. We just had the idea, like, "If you were a superhero, what superpower would you have?" I have really bad eyesight, so the idea was that I could see through this dog. Mostly we wanted to talk about the idea that hip-hop used to be fun but now we're surrounded by such materialism. We just want to bring back the ideals. We want to bring back the fun.
Sindy: So how much creative influence did you have over the webisodes?
apl.de.ap: We had a lot. We wanted to make sure we were able to bring the Black Eyed Peas sound and the Black Eyed Peas moves to it. We wanted it to really be us.
Sindy: So, I take it Snickers are your favorite candy bar?
apl.de.ap: Definitely. We used to eat them back in the day because it was the only thing we could afford. (Laughs). Now I can eat, like, five of them if I want. And sometimes I do. (Laughs).
Sindy: How do you feel about Fergie's solo career?
apl.de.ap: Ah, it's great. I totally support my girl. We all support each other.
Sindy: Are you planning to strike out on your own?
apl.de.ap: Yeah, we're all doing our individual side-projects. I'm definitely recording my own stuff. I've started my own record label - Jeepney Music - and I want to put out my own stuff and also stuff by other Filipino artists.
