After long days of lying on the beach, swimming laps at the pool and battling the sun and the heat, your body's in need of a little TLC. Find out how to treat your skin with these homemade scrubs and body masks to soothe, hydrate and soften up!
Sensational Skin - Body Scrub
Suntanned skin is nice;
peeling skin isn't. If you're suffering from this
summer blunder, use a
loofah sponge that you can buy at your local drugstore. Or, try this invigorating almond scrub to gently
exfoliate and relieve itchy,
flaking skin.
Ingredients:
2/3 cup of ground almonds
1/3 cup of oatmeal
Plain yogurt, milk, or buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon of herbs, like lavender or chamomile (optional)
Essential oils for scent (optional)
Directions:
Mix the dry ingredients in a blender and store it in a glass jar in the refrigerator.
When you want to use the scrub base, scoop out 1/4 cup into a bowl and stir in enough of the liquid ingredients to make a paste.
Rub over body and rinse thoroughly.
Sensational Skin - Body Mask
When
food is just too good to eat, make a fruit salad of
pineapples, which slough off dead skin cells,
grapes, which
protect against harmful
UV rays, and other fruits to make a body mask that'll
hydrate and soothe
sunburned skin.
Ingredients:
2 slices of pineapple, rind removed
1/2 honeydew melon, rind removed
1 dozen green grapes
1 banana, peeled
1 kiwi, peeled
Directions:
Puree all ingredients in a blender. Mixture will be slightly lumpy.
Refrigerate for one hour.
Smooth onto body, leaving on for half an hour.
Rinse off with warm water.
