John Tucker Must Die DVD Review

Dec 27, 2006

Hell hath no furry like a woman scorned except - perhaps - three women scorned. John Tucker Must Die charts the antics of three jilted exes (and one sympathetic new girl) as they scheme to get back at the man who used them. Find out if it's deadly funny or lifelessly lame.

John Tucker Must Die - Don't Hate the Playa

John Tucker (Jesse Metcalfe) is 'da man at his school - he's the star basketball player, the coolest kid around and has about the hottest body ever seen in a high school changing room (maybe that's because this "teenager" is closing in on 30 in real life). But John's player ways get him in hot water when the three girls - from competing cliques- he's dating find out about each other. At first they turn on each other but they quickly realize that they have a common enemy - and he's going down!

John Tucker Must Die - Big Girls Don't Cry

The feisty threesome (Ashanti, Sophia Bush and Arielle Kebbel) aren't the types to cry themselves to sleep over any boy - so they enlist the help of anonymous new girl Kate (Brittany Snow) to seek revenge. When their various plans only serve to boost his reputation (never underestimate your enemy!), they turn Kate into his ideal woman in an effort to break his heart.

John Tucker Must Die - DVD Features

Just like this let-down of a movie, the DVD features are nothing to sneeze at. You're grandma's old records probably have more exciting features than this disc which has a brief making-of featurette, some deleted scenes and an on set tour with Jesse Metcalfe. Save your allowance money and skip this flick all together.

John Tucker Must Die - The Bottom Line

A high school full of 20-something gym freaks. A plot with fewer twists and turns than a Babysitters Club novel. And more bad lighting than you can shake a stick at (what is this - an episode of Passions?). Sound like the making of a hit teen comedy to you? Us neither. The story is - at best - predicable and - at its worst - creepily inappropriate for a young audience. But worst of all, it just isn't funny.
