Activision's new X-Men: The Official Game has arrived with a boatload of mutant action for the Gamecube, PC, PS2, Xbox and Xbox 360! But this game's only mutant power is to suck. How did peeps behind the awesome X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse and Ultimate Spider-Man go wrong? Here's the 411 with our video game review.
Kickin' Butt, X-Men Style on the Xbox 360
This game puts you in control of Iceman, Nightcrawler and Wolverine for a dose of the action that happens between the X2 movie and the upcoming X-Men: The Last Stand. You get to use their mutant powers to bust up bad guys, hackin' and slashing as Wolverine, "Bamf"-ing around as Nightcrawler and zipping around on an iceboard as Iceman.Mutant Super Powers in X-Men: The Official Game
There are some cool boss battles, different game styles for each character and extra options to unlock. The actors from the movie do the voices of Iceman, Nightcrawler, Wolverine and Professor X, which is very cool. It's also a blast to teleport around as Nightcrawler and take to the air on Iceman's iceboard.Superpowered Suck in X-Men: The Official Game
For starters, even with the power of the Xbox 360, the graphics are ho-hum. Then it gets ugly. The bad guys are as dumb as toast, even the bosses. The levels are as exciting as mayonnaise sandwiches. Wolverine doesn't have any cool moves. And, for some reason, Iceman and Nightcrawler have healing powers.X-Men: The Official Game - Worth It?
This game blows. Buy a copy and give it to someone you hate, but don't play it. If you're a hardcore X-Men fan you'll be able to have some fun before the boredom sets in and you fall asleep, but it's not worth it.X-Men: The Official Game Thumbs Up:
