We review the new Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game set: Shadow of Infinity!

The new Yu-Gi-Oh! card game set, Shadow of Infinity is here. It has more Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and cards from the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX TV show - the three Sacred Beasts! We've checked out all the cards and have the 411 on the Shadow of Infinity set for you with this review.

Shadow of Infinity: New Cards, Powers, and Combos!

There are 60 cards in this set and here's what they're all about!
  • Ancient Gears - Lots of new cards power up decks with ancient gear and machine monsters, including Cyber Dragons!
  • Insects - There are lots of new insect monsters to summon.
  • Demise, King of Armageddon - For 2000 life points, this huge monster can wipe out every other card on the field.
  • Ruin, Queen of Oblivion - With 2300 Attack and the ability to attack again each time it destroys a monster, this monster has bite!
  • The Sacred Beasts - All three Sacred Beasts from the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime are in this set and they're awesome!
  • Kickin' Butt with the Yu-Gi-Oh! Shadow of Infinity Set!

What this set does best is add a whole lot of power to machine and insect decks with cards like Cyber Laser Dragon and Doom Dozer. There are some awesome new cards, like Disciple of the Forbidden Spell, Treeborn Frog and Ancient Gear Castle. The biggest cards though are the new Sacred Beasts! Unlike the Egyptian God Cards, you can actually use these huge monsters. Check them out right here.

    Uria, Lord of Searing Flames

    Type: Fire / Pyro
    Rarity: Ultra Rare
    Card #: SOI-EN001
    Stars: 10
    Attack: 0
    Defense: 0
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by sending 3 face-up Trap Cards from your side of the field to the Graveyard. Increase the ATK of this card by 1000 points for each Continuous Trap Card in your Graveyard. Once per turn, you can destroy one Set Spell or Trap Card on your opponent's side of the field. Spell and Trap Cards cannot be activated in response to this effect's activation.

    Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder

    Type: Light / Thunder
    Rarity: Ultra Rare
    Card #: SOI-EN002
    Stars: 10
    Attack: 4000
    Defense: 4000
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by sending three face-up Continuous Spell Cards from your side of the field to the Graveyard. When this card destroys your opponent's monster as a result of battle and sends it to the Graveyard, inflict 1000 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points. While this card is in face-up Defense Position on your side of the field, your opponent cannot select another monster as an attack target.

    Raviel, Lord of Phantasms

    Type: Dark / Fiend
    Rarity: Ultra Rare
    Card #: SOI-EN003
    Stars: 10
    Attack: 4000
    Defense: 4000
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by Tributing 3 Fiend-Type monsters on your side of the field. Each time your opponent Special Summons a monster(s), Special Summon a "Phantasm Token" (Fiend-Type/DARK/Level 1/ATK 1000/DEF 1000) on your side of the field. This Token cannot declare an attack. Once per turn, by Tributing one monster on your side of the field, increase the ATK of this card by the original ATK of the Tributed monster until the End Phase of that turn.

Lame Cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Shadow of Infinity Set

The biggest problem with this set is that it's great for powering up cards from other sets, like Cybernetic Revolution, but it's not very good by itself. So, unless you have lots of other cards, it's weak. There are also some serious stinker cards - the lamest of the lame is Cyber Barrier Dragon. It's so weak it hurts! The new Princess Pikeru/Curran cards are stinkers too. They're tricky to summon and they aren't very powerful.

The Lowdown on the Yu-Gi-Oh! Shadow of Infinity Set

If you're new to the game, grab some Cybernetic Revolution cards, and a structure deck or two, first. Once you have a bunch of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, then pick up some of these cards and go kick butt!

Yu-Gi-Oh! Shadow of Infinity Thumbs Up:

  • Great for powering up other decks.
  • Some excellent cards!
  • The Sacred Beasts!
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Shadow of Infinity Thumbs Down:

  • Not a great set by itself.
  • The Sacred Beasts are hard to summon!
  • Shadow of Infinity Set Rating: 4
