In the Mix - All's Fair in Love and Gangster War
The reigning king of R&B stars as Darrell Williams, New York's hottest DJ and most popular ladies man. When his childhood friend, Dolly (played by Emmanuelle Chriqui), comes home for summer vacation, he's invited to spin at her homecoming party. No biggie, right? Well, Dolly's dad just so happens to be a mafia boss who becomes the target of a mob drive-by during the party. Darrell saves his life and before he knows what hit him - other than the bullet - he's hired to be Dolly's bodyguard.In the Mix - A Mixed-Up Mess
Since Dolly doesn't want a personal bodyguard, she decides to make Darrell's life a living hell by dragging him to the spa, yoga classes and posh lunches with the girls. But Dolly finds she can't get rid of Darrell that easily cuz he fits in wherever he goes! In the middle of all their arguments, Darrell and Dolly realize they have feelings for each other - you know where the rest of the story's headed. Though Usher's character isn't that far off from his real-life persona, his acting gets a little awkward at times. If you were hoping to get a truckload of Usher featurettes, you're out of luck with this DVD. There's a quick, behind-the-scenes feature, some deleted scenes and trailers for upcoming flims, but that's it. You're definitely better grabbing Usher's Unauthorized DVD.In the Mix - Bottom Line
In the Mix is a cute but predictable romantic comedy. Skip this flick if you're looking for an ending with an unforeseeable twist, but if all you want to see is Usher stylin' and profilin' in GQ suits half of the time and showing off his washboard abs the other half of the time, then this is the movie for you.In the Mix Rating:
