He's a pure scoring machine, who's one of the NBA's toughest players. Kidzworld checks out basketball superstar, Paul Pierce.
Paul Pierce - LA Hoops Star
Paul Pierce was born on October 13, 1977 in Oakland, California but he grew up near Los Angeles in Inglewood, where he learned to shoot hoops on the city's street courts. He went on to play basketball at Inglewood High School and led the team to a division championship before moving on to play college basketball at the University of Kansas. Paul Pierce showed he's much more than just a LA streetballer while playing for the Kansas Jayhawks. The forward established himself as a lethal outside shooter who wasn't afraid to drive to the hoop or play hurt. He was the team's leading scorer as a sophmore and led Kansas to the 1997 Final Four. Pierce was drafted in the first round of the 1998 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics.Paul Pierce - Celtic Superstar
During his eight years in the NBA, Paul Pierce has become one of the NBA's top scorers and most durable players. He has averaged more than 23 points a game during his career and has missed only a handful of games due to injury (In 2000, he never even missed a game after being stabbed several times in the neck and shoulders just weeks before the start of the season). Pierce is a strong shooter and rebounder who can drive hard to the hoop or position himself for an open jump shot. The Celtics captain has also played the NBA All-Star Game four times and led Boston to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2002. If Pierce can lead the Celtics to more playoff sucess, he'll go down as one of Boston's all-time basketball greats.Paul Pierce - Did You Know?
