2005 Winter X Games

Dec 27, 2006

From the biggest air to the most massive Mctwists, check out the athletes and events of the 2005 Winter X Games in Colorado.

2005 Winter X Games - Skiing and Snowboarding

In 2005, there will be SuperPipe, Slopestyle and Skier/Boarder X events for both female and male riders.

  • SuperPipe - Skiers and boarders will ride the same 500-foot SuperPipe and will get points for style and difficulty of tricks. Look for teenage boarding babe, Hannah Teter, to go big in the female SuperPipe, which is a full medal event for the first time.
  • Slopestyle - Skiers and boarders will ride a series of jumps, rails, table tops and other obstacles. Expect Shaun White, armed with his board and his massive mop of hair, to win the men's event once again.

Ultra X - This is probably the most exciting event with tons of cool crashes and wipeouts. Top finishers from the Boarder X will team up with top finishers from the Skier X to compete in the Ultra X - a wild, relay race down an obstacle course of jumps, banked corners and big hits. It doesn't get any better than this.

    2005 Winter X Games - Snowmobile Snocross

The Winter X Games Snocross features high-flying aerials and big hits around an oval snowmobile course made up of jumps, rollers and high corners. Riders to watch in this event include former X Games champs Tucker Hibbert and Blair Morgan.

    2005 Winter X Games - MotoX

MotoX is the most daring and destructive of the sports at the Winter X Games. Riders score points for the best tricks they perform while flying off snow jumps on their bikes. Brian Deegan is still feeling the effects of last year's games when he broke his left femur and both wrists when he crashed trying to land a 360 across a 90-foot gap! Ouch! Look out for 2004 X Games' winner, Caleb Wyatt, who may try to land a backflip to defend his title.

The 2005 Winter X Games will be on ABC from January 29th to February 1st. Find a TV shedule to check what time you should be tuning in or head to www.expn.com for more details.
