The Shadowclash of Blinding Night expansion set for the Duel Masters Trading Card Game from Wizards of the Coast is here! It joins Evo Crushinators of Doom and Rampage of the Super Warriors expansions and gives you more monster and spell cards, but it also has new civilization team-up and enemy cards. Here's our review of these new cards.

Shadowclash of Blinding Night Big, Bad, Basics

This is the third expansion set for the Duel Masters TCG from Wizards of the Coast. It's another 60-card set with five super-rare cards, five ultra-rare cards and 50 other cards. It also has a new trick - rather than powering-up decks that are all one civilization, it powers up decks that combine civilizations. Shadowclash of Blinding Night also has cards that stomp certain civilizations. Here's the list of who teams up well and who is out to squish who.

What makes the Shadowclash of Blinding Night set rock is that it lets you play a mix of civilizations and have a powerful deck! Plus, the civilizations that should really hate each other (like Light and Darkness) have cards that really thump each other. The Demon Command and Angel Command cards also get a big boost with some powerful cards like Photocide, Lord of the Wastes and Aeris, Flight Elemental.

Shadowclash of Blinding Night Set Weaknesses

The biggest problem with this Duel Masters card game expansion is that some cards like Volcano Smog, Deceptive Shade, can wipe out one civilization easily, but suck against any other. Also, some other cards, like Ballom, Master of Death, can win a game by themselves. Finally, the ultra-rare Light and Fire monsters are lame.

Shadowclash of Blinding Night Game Rating: 4

Shadowclash of Blinding Night Thumbs Up:

  • Combine civilizations to make super-strong decks!
  • Play cards to blast specific civilizations.
  • Collect new evolution monsters.
  • Awesome new art for the monster and spell cards.

Shadowclash of Blinding Night Thumbs Down:

  • Some ultra-rare cards are ultra-lame.
  • Some cards are so strong they'll win the game all the time.
