If you like to skateboard and you live where it snows a lot - winter can really bite. It's pretty tough to do ollies or kickflips when there's a foot of snow on the ground - not to mention ice.
That's where Burton's Junkyard Snowdeck comes into play. A snowdeck is basically a snowboard without any bindings - or you could say it's a skateboard without any wheels. Either way, it can be used for sliding on the snow, rails, table-tops or whatever your favorite surface might be. The Junkyard deck is a skateboard which has been put on a set of risers (where you'd expect to find skateboard trucks) and then mounted on to another smaller deck.
There's no bindings which means you can pull an ollie in the snow - just like on a skateboard. The snowdeck is so simple that you can ride it basically anywhere you can find snow. Your backyard, the sidewalk, the steps of the library, the golf course, parking lots - you name it. If you want you can even ride your snowdeck at the ski hill if you wear a leash. Going through terrain parks and over big hits without being locked into bindings may take some getting used to - so you might want to make sure there's lots of soft snow if you're going to fly over anything crazy. The only bad thing about Burton's Junkyard Snowdeck is that it won't be hitting stores until the fall of 2001 - so you'll have to wait until next winter to test it out.
