The mouths are smashing... again. Is Get the Picture full of tunes as good as Smash Mouths Shrek and Goldmember movie soundtrack tunes? Find out!
Well, you've got to give it up for the boys in Smash Mouth - they have definitely mastered the breezy, cruisey summertime song.
Smash Mouth Goodness
Get the Picture, like Smash Mouth's previous CD, is filled with bouncy, catchy riffs that make you want to tap your feet (the song, Hot), sing along, (You Are My Number One), go to the beach or hope the bell is going to ring (Hang On) so you can do just that.
Smash Mouth Badness
The phrase too much of a good thing comes to mind here. The main problem with this one is that, after a while, it all sounds the same. There are no real changes between songs, except maybe when one song slows down (Looking For A Wall). Some of the lyrics are total cheese (Spaceman, Fun) and after track seven on my third listen, I turned it off. And the radio remix version of You Are My Number One, although pretty sweet, doesn't need to be here.
Smash Mouth - The Bottom Line
This album is pure escape music, good for when you're playing vids, just chillin', wanna dance, cranking at the halfpipe or cleaning your room. It'll get your toes tapping and you'll be goofin' before you know you are. If you heard the last one, you already know the formula. If you're looking for Good Charlotte-style rock, keep looking.Rating:
