The live-action Star Wars series is back for season 2! Check out Kidzworlds review of The Mandalorian Chapter 9: The Marshal Episode! Light spoilers ahead.
After the climactic conclusion of season 1, The adventures of "The Mandalorian" and Baby Yoda return after a 10-month break. Time didn’t slow the pair down one bit. Season 2 hits the ground running with a thrilling story that is sure to delight.
The Criminal Underbelly
Mando’s mission from the end of Season 1 was to find where Baby Yoda belongs, the Jedi. His search leads him to a seedy fight ring, where a crowd of aliens cheers as two hulking Gamorreans battle it out for their amusement. Seeing the mix of alien races together in the dark and dingy arena just feels so Star Wars and does a great job of bringing us back into this universe. In an attempt to find another Mandalorian to help him on his quest, he tussles with some aliens after an information deal goes south. The action is just as hard-hitting as before, but with plenty of fun Baby Yoda moments to break up the drama.
Back to Tatooine
We can’t seem to leave this place. The One-eyed alien gives Mando a lead on where he might be able to find another Mandalorian, the desert planet of Tatooine. Eagle-Eyed fans might start to pick up where this is going, with Tatooine being the last known location of a fan-favorite bounty hunter. Turns out the helmeted gunslinger was not who we expected, but a man named Cobb Vanth wearing none other than Boba Fett’s famous green armor. Although the suit has seen much better days, with the wear and tear of the desert sands scratching off most of the paint. Mando enacts the right to bring the Baskar armor back to his clan, but Cobb wants to keep it. The relationship between these two ends up being one of the most endearing in the show so far. The pair grows to respect one another and ends up working together as a great team.
The Quest
This is another episode that plays out very much like a video game sidequest, and it is great for it. To get the armor, Mando must take down a colossal Krayt Dragon and save the nearby town. The encounter is on a scale we have not seen yet in the series, the beast is truly remarkable in size. Chapter 9 is a great mix of new and old ideas. The Krayt Dragon was a memorable chapter from the game Knights of the Old Republic, but the way the story played out was a constantly entertaining blend of Western movies and Star Wars’ signature style. The series continues to do everything right by its world, and the character we see it through opens the door for so many adventures. That is to say, I am glad "The Mandalorian" is back.
