LEGO Star Wars Battles Announced for Mobile

Next year, a new LEGO Star Wars mobile game is set to release called LEGO Star Wars Battles.
1v1 Multiplayer
When the game hits the App Store and Google Play, you’ll be able to engage in 1 vs. 1 multiplayer battles. It has not been reported whether or not any offline or singleplayer modes will be added, but hopefully, this will come in the future.
Base Building
Like many mobile games, in matches of LEGO Star Wars Battles, you’ll be building bases and defending it from the other army. Capturing territory and deploying the right troops for the job are the tickets to victory. The game will feature a bunch of famous battlegrounds across the Star Wars universe like Scarif, Naboo, and Hoth, so hopefully, the visuals will stay fresh across matches. Both vehicles and bases will appear in micro-form, with characters sticking out of massive vehicles like the AT-AT and Republic Turbo tank so that the battlefield is easy to navigate on the small phone screen.
Troops and Units
There are over 40 characters, troopers, droids, and more to deploy during a match. A big draw of the game is the ability to pit unlikely characters against one another, like Yoda leading a charge against the Empire with an army of Porgs. Each type of character has different skills and abilities. Force users can use moves like Force Slam and Push, while Bounty Hunters like Boba Fett and IG-88 use their signature weapons and tools. Starfighters like TIE Fighters and X-Wings hover over the battlefield and rain down fire, while turrets can provide stationary defenses for your bases. More unit types and characters will most likely be added after the game launches, but we do not yet know how these will be unlocked.
Strategy
Like in the best Real-Time Strategy games, winning will come down to how you build your bases and position your armies. Champion units are your heavy-hitters like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker and these need to be deployed at the right time. There hasn’t been a Star Wars RTS in a while, with the game Empire at War being the last chance fans have had to pit armies against each other. With this game having a LEGO twist and more characters making their debuts in new movies like the new trilogy of The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and the upcoming The Rise of Skywalker, it is about time for another shot at intense, strategy action. Unfortunately, this game won’t release until next year in 2020, but we also have Star Wars: Fallen Order to look forward to for this year for fans of a single-player, story-focused game.
