Though Gamescom can often pass by without any big announcements, this year's show had a handful of notable reveals for some exciting games. With exciting trailers from Xbox, Nintendo, and others, you'll want to keep reading to see the most exciting details from the event.

Kicking Off With Nintendo and Xbox

Things started off with a quick presentation from everyone's favorite family-friendly gaming company, Nintendo. The Nintendo Indie World event focused on a wide collection of everything indie coming to the Nintendo Switch. While there were tons of really cool games on there, including a stellar looking skating game titled Skater XL, there were two announcements in particular that really stood out.

The Inside Xbox event was full of Gamepass announcements and colored-controller reveals, but the biggest announcements centered around the upcoming Xbox exclusive franchise Gears of War. Notably a cutesy entry into the series called GearsPop! is available for free on August 22nd for Android, iOS, and Windows 10. Check out the animated short below.

Gamescom 2019's Opening Night Live

Hosted by The Game Awards' Geoff Keighley, this Opening Night Live event brought a slew of sizable trailers. Though things kicked off with another look at Gears 5 (specifically the game's campaign,) the first real bit of gameplay came from the Need for Speed Heat trailer. The latest Need for Speed looks like it'll call back to the golden days of Need for Speed: Most Wanted, the game is releasing on November 8th, so not too long of a wait.

The next real surprise comes from Little Nightmares 2, a sequel to the eerie puzzle-platformer from 2017. No official date from this game, but we'll be seeing it at some time in 2020. While things capped off with a deeper look at the bizarre upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive, Death Stranding, the most exciting piece of news is in the upcoming free trial of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare this coming weekend. So if you're looking to try out the latest Call of Duty, and have a PlayStation 4, then you'll want to check out the upcoming Alpha.

So you could say that this Gamescom was packed to the brim with announcements, while there were plenty of tiny trailers throughout the show, these were the biggest that stood out to us.
