Make Your Own Game with Dreams for PS4
Creating your own video game has never been easier.
Feb 26, 2019By: Max Cannon
The development team over at Media Molecule isn't new to the idea of creating and sharing your own creations online. Their most famous series, LittleBigPlanet, really popularized the idea way back in the PlayStation 3 era but their upcoming game Dreams is taking that idea to an entirely new level. Creating your own world, characters, songs, short films, and, of course, video games is all completely possible within Dreams. If you desire to make your own game, then this is a perfect starting point for anyone who owns a PlayStation 4.
Play, Create, Share
Dreams first debuted at the reveal of the PlayStation 4 way back in February of 2013, almost exactly 6 years ago. However, at the time, we had no clue about the game we were looking at. It didn't surprise gamers that Dreams would be a game centered around creating and sharing games, that was completely in-line with Media Molecule's premise with each of their LittleBigPlanet games. But with the game's most recent beta, it became clear how much potential was hidden inside this long-developed game. Initially, users of the beta weren't allowed to share their products but once impressive creations began to leak out into the public eye, PlayStation lifted the restriction and the floodgates of awesome content opened.
Early Access to Dreams on PS4 - Kidzworld Weekly News
As it appears, the sky is the limit with Dreams. Passionate creators are planning tons of different types of games from first-person shooters to platformers and puzzlers, the potential feels endless. While LittleBigPlanet felt restrictive, not just from the 2D perspective but because of the limits on what you could fill your world with. At the moment, Dreams appears to have far fewer limits. In fact, this seems like a piece of software that'll let you do more than make games.
Maybe Music and Movies?
If you're feeling creative with a copy of Dreams at your fingertips, you're able to dabble in making movies or music too. The software has its own massive and comprehensive audio editor that lets you record/import your own tunes. The detailed sculpting and animating tools will let you animate expressive characters for potential games but it'll also let you create cutscenes or even films that don't require any player interaction. You're not limited to the world of gaming, at least that's how the team over at Media Molecule have made it appear.
Though there is no official release date for the game, players who drop $29.99 will have early access to the game when it launches at sometime this coming Spring. There are rumors of limited space in early access so if you're hoping to try Dreams out then you'll want to make sure you're quickly in. Head on over to PlayStation's website to register for a chance to get in on the action early.
