Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 (RCT2) has given me something I never thought I would have - a fear of roller coasters! And, it's not just coasters. I get twitchy around cotton candy, and merry-go-rounds make me go all weak in the knees. With the release of Roller Coaster Tycoon, Infogrames created an amusement park Sim-thang that looked and sounded great. From the dozens of available coaster designs, to the flushing of the toilets in the restrooms, it was all theme park goodness. Theonly thing missing was the smell of the midway.
RCT2 Not As Cool As RCT
Unfortunately, RCT2 hasn't changed, and in some ways it's even a big, old step back. As a plus, it teaches managerial skills and develops multi-tasking skills(like chewing gum and playing Spyro at the same time.) The thing is, when I want to just kick back and relax with a game, the last things I want to be looking at are the weekly profit graphs and marketing reports.Too Much Work
Now, if ya just wanna spend hours upon hours building realer-than-real Six Flags giganto coasters and turning all the people invisible, more power to ya. But whatever you do, don't leave the room to pee or answer the phone. I lost thousands of dollars in the time it takes to flush or floss. And ya want to talk fatalities? Over the last week I have managed to crash half a dozen park rides and drown a park mechanic. On the up side, I haven't been carted off to jail. Hey! Prison Tycoon, now there's a concept!
