Beach style puts comfort first, but not at the cost of looking great. Soft, natural fabrics like cotton and linen in soft, neutral colors are paired with a loose, tailored style to make you look like a sporty hippie. From bottom to top, a beachy girl’s wardrobe consists of: sandals, jeans shorts, short overalls, flowy floral dresses, slouchy button-down blouses, nautical striped shirts, oversized v-neck thin sweaters, hooded sweatshirts, sunglasses, a straw hat to keep out the sun, and an overall relaxed pose.
Look to the top surfer brands for inspiration — Roxy, Tilly’s, Billabong, Hollister, Quicksilver, and O’Neill — then head to your local Target or shop online at Amazon for discounted versions of these styles all in one place.
Top off your outfit with accessories like knotted rope bracelets, friendship bracelets made from embroidery floss or string, bracelets with wooden beads, anklets, and turquoise and silver necklaces and earrings.
Glowing skin
Feed your skin from the outside in and the inside out with these tips:
- Hydrate your skin by drinking water all day long and you’ll set the foundation for a gorgeous glow.
- Wash your face every morning to clean your pores and keep pimples away, then follow up with a daytime moisturizer that has at least 40 SPF to block the sun’s harmful rays.
- Wash your face every night to clean off the remains of the day, then put on a moisturizer specially formulated for nighttime to repair and protect your skin overnight. Some daytime moisturizers have a hint of tint to provide added coverage. If you wear tinted moisturizer or makeup, blend the color down onto your neck so your glow looks natural.
- Add bronzer to your cheekbones and at your hair line on your forehead. For a finishing touch, look at yourself in the mirror and smile. Dab bronzer or a little blush on the “apples” of your cheeks.
- Moisturize your lips with natural products that offer SPF and contain vitamin E, macadamia oil, shea butter, and almond oil to keep them soft.
- Wear sunglasses to protect your sensitive eyes from damage from the sun. The best sunglasses are polarized to reduce glare and have UV protection to protect your eyes from long-term sun damage.

Beachy hair
Beach hair don’t care? Most people don’t complain when the salt water adds a crunchy, piece-y wave to your everyday ordinary hair. In fact they try to replicate it even on cloudy days when the beach is the farthest thing from their minds. To get a great, beachy look any time, start with clean, damp hair at night. Comb through our hair, then massage a light-hold gel or mousse throughout your hair, then braid your hair and leave the braids in overnight to set. In the morning, take out the braids and run your fingers through your hair to separate the waves. Finish with a sea salt spray (the one from Lush smells AMAZING!) and scrunch the curls with your hands. You can get similar results without the overnight wait ]using a curling iron or pin curls.
Beachy bedroom
It doesn’t take much to turn an ordinary bedroom into a beach-inspired oasis. Fairy lights or mini lanterns emit a warm glow, which can really show off walls adorned with an inspiring collage of postcards or photos of your favorite beaches. Accents like strings of seashells or starfish, glass jars filled with sea glass and shells, and art made from driftwood or old surfboards create an instant beach vibe.
Beachy vibes
No matter where you travel or what the season is, you can always tell a fellow beach-lover by their vibe. That relaxed stance, face unconsciously tilted toward the sun whenever the rays peek through the clouds, giving off an aura of inner peace while also being ready for action at a moment’s notice. To be beachy, all you really need to do is think beachy thoughts!
