While we saw the revelation of a Toy Story themed world last summer, it looks like Pixar isn't done with the latest Kingdom Hearts game. The D23 Expo, which focuses on all things Disney, revealed a look at the latest Kingdom Hearts world and song to be hitting the long-running franchise in 2018.
Monsters, Inc. and More
There's a lot to take away from this trailer but the biggest look we got was at the upcoming world from Pixar's Monsters, Inc. Sora, Donald, and Goofy's appearances change based upon the world they're visiting and the Monster's Inc. world sees our heroes looking more like monsters than themselves. Even more changes that are specific to the world get hints, including this potential look at our heroes showing off their scares (which you can check out below.) Fans of the film will be able to recall specific locations from the film in the trailer, especially as Sora rides along the railway of doors.
Combat isn't as detailed as the previous look we got but that's fine because we also got a deeper look at the previously confirmed Tangled level, Toy Story, and a visit from The Little Mermaid. The Tangled attack, which uses the power of Rapunzel's hair, takes our heroes onto a tall tower while an attack involving both Woody and Buzz in Toy Story's world puts players onto the rocket from the climax of the original. And this gorgeous and wet attack from Ariel may indicate that she's been reduced to a summon and her controversial world from Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 won't be revisited, probably a good call. Check out the trailer for yourself below.

Doubling Down on the Date
The trailer concludes by reminding us that they're still planning on that 2018 release date, though gamers are still cautious when it comes to this series. Though this game has been rumored to be in development since the PS2 era, players have yet to see a mainline entry in the series since 2005. We've certainly had a good number of spin-offs in that time, there have been games on the PS2, Game Boy Advance, PSP, 3DS, and mobile phones but all of those titles weren't mainline numbered entries like the upcoming game will be.
This confirmation suggests that we could see a ton of news soon, probably E3 soon? This would set the game up perfectly for a potential Holiday release in 2018 but we could hopefully get a lengthy look at gameplay in the coming months. Graphically the game looks set to impress and the little combat we've had seen has certainly impressed me, but the real question of this series is about the story. Will things finally start to connect from other games, will players of the main entries be able to follow everything, what other worlds are in store?
