A lot of different games flash across my TV, some of them good and some of them are not so good. If you're looking for a great gaming recommendation you are reading the right article. Each and every month I'll give you the update on my favorite game I played over the last 30 or 31 days. Some of these games will be newer releases and some will be ancient games that I dug out of my dusty old cabinet but they'll always be something I'm passionate about.
This month's game is...
Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition
I take a pretty sizeable amount of pride in my little brother's 11th birthday. Video games have always struck a deeper resonance with me than any of my siblings or family and I was always happy to bridge the gap with a game that spoke to everyone. Downloading a fresh release of Minecraft to my little brother's account on my family's Xbox 360 was sure to appease him. And so it did, for days, years, and months I would come home to find my youngest sibling playing Minecraft with a level of knowledge I personally didn't have.
Of course, I had spent some time playing it alongside him and my other siblings, but as the oldest brother who was kicking off his first year's of college, I wasn't always around to play. But when Christmas, Summer, or any other vacation rolled around I was always happy to boot up Minecraft with my brother and have him show me the ropes.
But that's not the only relationship that grew with Minecraft, a close childhood friend and I spent hours playing the game in college and reconnecting while everyone else had moved out of state. The hours and hours we played the game had come to an end when it was his time to move away as well and I'd put my Minecraft-ing days behind me. Until I heard that he had gotten his hands on a Nintendo Switch.
Finding an excuse to play games with an old friend was awesome and while being a little older and busier means that I'm not playing as much as I'd like to, Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch is quickly becoming the best trip I've taken down memory lane yet. While being a reunion between myself and the world of Minecraft this is also the best way possible to play the game. Playing on the go, the inclusion of Super Mario texture packs from the Wii U version of the game, and more Minecraft well what's not to like? Anyone that' been gaming on the Nintendo Switch wouldn't be disappointed in picking up Minecraft for the quality gameplay but in a case like my own it was a fond trip down memory lane that I'm endlessly grateful for. One of the best additions to the Switch's library, alongside Zelda (a previous best game of the month) and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
