Batman - The Teltale Series will launch digitally on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC/Mac, and iOS/Android sometime in August, though the concrete date is still unknown. If you're the kind of person who likes to own their games physically than you can pick a copy up - that will give you access to every episode as they become available - on September 13th in North America and 3 days later on the 16th in Europe.
For those yet initiated, Telltale games are dialogue driven adventure games. So if you've played Tales From The Borderlands, The Walking Dead, or Minecraft: Story Mode you'll be familiar with how these play out. You're typically responding to quicktime events, split second decisions that alter the story, and simple puzzles that involve mixing one item with something in your environment - typical adventure game stuff. Also, Troy Baker the voice of Tales From The Borderlands' protagonist Rhys, will return to Telltale to voice the titular Batman.
Batman v Bruce Wayne
The exciting thing about the inclusion of Batman into the Telltale library - aside from it being Batman - is the focus given to Bruce Wayne as much as Batman. For those living under a rock, Bruce Wayne is the billionaire philanthropist that moonlights as Batman. Many games, movies, and TV shows have been quick to separate Batman from Bruce Wayne but Telltale plans to meld the two together. Certain situations will require the player to decide if they want to handle the villain as Bruce Wayne or as Batman, and the choices of one identity may affect the other.
Telltale games are famously unstable as far as their engine is considered. However, though we aren't working with an entirely new engine Telltale claims to have drastically updated it for Batman - The Telltale series. Hopes are high for the game which will launch at some mystery date this upcoming August. Look forward to Kidzworld's review of the episodes as they go live!
