In Kung Fu Panda 3, Master Shifu (voice of Dustin Hoffman) makes Po (Jack Black) a teacher of the other Masters. He’s horrible as a teacher but when a ticked-off bull named Kai (J.K. Simmons) banished years ago to the Spirit Realm by Po’s mentor Oogway (Randall Duk Kim) returns and starts terrorizing Po’s Valley friends he has to join with his panda family and get up enough Chi (spirit within himself) to beat the new enemy.

Enter the Teacher

Dragon Master Po is busy with the Furious Five (Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Viper (Lucy Liu) and Crane (David Cross)) protecting and inspiring the Valley of Peace from their home in the Jade Palace. Master Shifu decides that in order for Po to be complete as Dragon Master, he must become the Kung Fu teacher to the Valley-ites and his fellow masters. He is horrible at it.

Enter the Daddy

Suddenly Po’s long lost father Li (voice of Bryan Cranston) appears in the village saying he was summoned there by “the Universe” to finally meet his son. Po is delighted but his restaurant owning goose daddy Mr. Ping (James Hong) is both jealous and afraid he will lose his adopted son to his biological dad.

Enter the Baddie

Big bull Kai (voice of J.K. Simmons), a spirit warrior always in battle with Po’s mentor tortoise Oogway, has been in the spirit realm stealing the Chi (spirit energy) from tons of Kung Fu masters over the years and turning them into his super-powered Jade Zombie army. Now he is ready to re-enter the mortal world to vanquish Po and the Five and get even with Oogway by destroying everything he has built.

Enter the Village

Po finds out that he will have to learn to control Chi in order to defeat Kai but he has no idea how. This used to be in the hands (literally) of the hidden village of pandas high in the mountains. Thrilled that there are other pandas he can meet and learn from, Po goes with his dad and adoptive daddy Mr. Ping stows away with them. Can Po be his true self, control the power of Chi and finally be the teacher who can give the pandas back their power to defeat Kai?

Special Extra Features

  • Everybody Loves a Panda Party  is Jack Black singing about his fun new panda family to the tune of “Kung Fu Fighting”.. very upbeat and danceable.
  • Po’s Posters of Awesomeness – has Jack exploring all the great posters of Po in Mr. Ping’s hut. His explanations are really funny.
  • Panda Paws is a short film featuring cute dancer Mei Mei and tiny panda Bao as they compete in a talent contest. Very sweet. Narrated by Kate Hudson..the voice of Mei Mei.
  • Make a Panda Party Paper Pal -  a paper cut out comes with this Blu-ray/DVD set and, step by step, Jack Black tells you how to fold it into a Panda… then make lots of them. I’m not great at folding but yours will probably look much better. A lot of hands-on fun.
  • Play Like a Panda – features the movie’s two directors showing live action films of baby pandas in action and talking about how they incorporated what they saw into the baby pandas in the movie.  This is mega-adorbs!! So cute.
  • The Origin of “Skadoosh” – Jack Black, as Po tells us how and why he developed his famous battle catchphase. Fun.
  • Faux Paws Deleted Scenes – We see three scenes cut from the film. The directors tell us why they had to be left out. All scenes are good and worth a watch.
