Skylanders SuperChargers comes out this September and we’re super excited. We got to check out the game a while back, but we hit the floor of San Diego Comic-Con to check out the new Nintendo additions and the Dark Edition. We actually got to play the game!
The Dark Edition is Coming
Fans at SDCC were among the first to play the game with dark versions of the Starter Pack characters, including Dark Turbo Charge Donkey Kong and his Dark Barrel Blaster land vehicle; Dark Hammer Slam Bowser and his Dark Clown Cruiser sky vehicle; and Skylanders fan-favorite Stealth Elf in a new Dark version. The dark characters have a bit more power, and Dark Donkey Kong is a blast! He can throw barrels and even leave a bongo to explode his enemies. Giant Bowser is a riot as well.

Vechiles, amiibos and More!
Another really cool aspect to the Nintendo characters is that there is a plate on the bottom, which allows them to switch between amiibos and Skylanders. It's easy for smaller hands. In case you were wondering, the Nintendo characters are exclusive to the Wii U. That said, you'll be able to use all the vehicles for all versions and they're wonderful.
One of the great things about the vehicles is that the"magic" is inside the toy and not on the plate at the bottom. That means you can roll the ones with wheels and fly the planes without a plate at the bottom. The controls are actually super easy and the game moves seamlessly between on foot levels and vehicle levels. You have all sorts of upgrades (that you’ll see when you place the toy on the portal) and crazy attacks. You can check your stats every time you pause.

Nintendo is Coming!
The Skylanders SuperChargers Dark Edition has starter packs that retail for $99.99 (U.S.). they include “Dark Spitfire, Dark Hot Streak, a two-sided ultimate collector poster and the highly sought-after Kaos Trophy, which is the only way to unlock special Kaos gameplay content.”
Here is the official info: ”Dark Super Shot Stealth Elf and Dark Sea Shadow will be available exclusively in the Dark Edition Starter Packs for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation® 3 and PlayStation® 4. The Wii U™ Dark Edition Starter Pack will include Dark Turbo Charge Donkey Kong and Dark Barrel Blaster, exclusively. A different, unique adventure including Dark Hammer Slam Bowser and Dark Clown Cruiser will be made available on Nintendo's Wii™ system.”
