Nintendo is bringing back The Nintendo World Championships, an event that hasn't been seen since 1990.
Nintendo revealed their E3 plans with a classically charming video, which you can watch below. In it, Nintendo Of America President Reggie Fils-Aime quits his job (a joke, of course) as a means to enter the Nintendo World Championships. Cue the epic training montage that will bring a huge smile to the young and old, especially those that grew up with Nintendo in the 90's.
Nintendo - Get Ready For E3 2015
Best Buy and Nintendo are teaming up for the event. At special Best Buy locations (still to be announced), gamers will be able to compete for a chance to play in the Nintendo World Championships finals which will be held in LA on Sunday June 14th.
Winners from each region go head-to-head in a multi-round tournament featuring Nintendo games. The event will be live streamed.
Nintendo also shared that they will once again, be doing a Nintendo Digital Event instead of a live media briefing at E3. The digital event kicks off on Tuesday June 16th (9am PT / 12pm ET).
Following that, Nintendo will broadcast a special Nintendo Tree House Live, where more games will be played and shown off by developers.
That's not all. At select Best Buy locations for two days during E3, Mario Maker will be playable on store floors for a few hours for those eager to get their hands on it, we loved what we saw of Mario Maker last year. Check with your local Best Buy to see if they are participating. In the mean time, keep up to date on Nintendo's soon to be released competitive shooter, Splatoon.
