Hosted by the always-charming Neil Patrick Harris (you may know him from "How I Met Your Mother"), this year's Oscars turned out some surprise winners and great performances.

Highlights

Trust Neil Patrick Harris to keep the night classy - as a Broadway star we were all expecting a little musical magic from him - but Anna Kendrick and Jack Black's addition to the performances were a nice touch. Those three are an unstoppable musical and comedic team! A lot of the host's jokes were a little on the tame side, but he more than made up for it by showing up in just his underwear to surprise the audience!

In terms of live performances, we were blown away by Tegan and Sara's "Everything is Awesome," (even if The Lego Movie didn't get a nod for Best Animated Pic this year) and John Legend and rapper Common performing "Glory" brought audience members to tears (just take a look at Chris Pine's face, if you don't believe us.)

And for anyone who ever had a doubt about Lady Gaga being an amazing singer - just check out her tribute to musical theater legend Julie Andrews, singing the iconic song from The Sound of Music - seriously, she sounds like a professional opera singer - she was so good that Julie Andrews had to come and give her a hug! It was a truly moving performance from one artist to another!

We also have to add that British Breakthrough Eddie Redmayne seems like the most charming fellow to ever hit the Oscars stage for his leading man acceptance speech.
