After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off assailants sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

The Bottom Line

Captain America: The Winter Solider is arguably one the best sequels Marvel has released, so seeing it on Blu-ray is definitely a treat. More so than some of the other Marvel films, Captain America and the sequel are about the characters - but that doesn't mean that anything is sacrificed in terms of amazing action scenes and special effects (which is what we all expect from a superhero movie!) The focus on characters though is what's going to make you want to add this one to your collection, it feels like a real movie, and not just an excuse to blow stuff up. Like every Marvel movie the blu-ray looks and sounds incredible, and for true fans of the movie and comics the feature length commentary with the directors and screenwriters will take you behind-the-scenes to get a glimpse at how it all came together. The only drawback with this disc is that it doesn't have as many Bonus Features as we would like, although there are the usual Deleted Scenes, Bloopers and some Making-of material. Luckily the film speaks for itself, Captain America: The Winter Soldier will make you excited about superhero sequels again!
