The multi-talented Kira Kosarin is a 16-year-old actress, dancer, singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist musician currently starring in the hugely popular live action Nickelodeon series “The Thundermans,” a comedy about a family of ex-superheroes trying to blend in as a normal family in suburbia. Kira plays Phoebe Thunderman, a smart, mature, confident and totally normal teenaged girl—aside from having freeze/heat breath, telekinesis, and being destined to be the world’s greatest superhero. The show’s second season premiere is August 16, 2014!
Born on October 7th, 1997 in New Jersey, to a veteran Broadway performer mother and a musical director and record producer father, Kira was destined to follow in her parents’ talented footsteps. Kira started wowing musical theater audiences at an early age, acting, singing and dancing in local, regional and pre-Broadway performances before, at age 12, she discovered her passion for acting on camera at a television workshop near her hometown in Florida. Encouraged by her acting instructor, Kira moved to LA and was immediately signed by a top talent agency. This led to a guest starring role on the popular Disney Channel show, “Shake it Up.”
A stellar student with a MENSA level IQ, Kira is a senior in high school and will graduate at 16 as valedictorian this year—two grades ahead of schedule! College is definitely in her future, but her plan—with the support of her proud parents—is to dedicate some time solely to her acting career before possibly taking some time off to experience college campus life, while not skipping a beat in the interim by taking college courses online.
When not acting, Kira can usually be found in the dance studio doing what she loves most—dancing ballet. While shooting “The Thundermans,” Kira still finds time to devote 8-10 hours a week to dance, and even more on her weeks off. An accomplished dancer (top ten 2013 Youth America Grand Prix Senior Contemporary Regional Division), Kira loves ballet en pointe, but also enjoys jazz, contemporary, modern, lyrical, and even excels in hip-hop. Prior to becoming serious about dance, Kira was a competitive gymnast, and continues to occasionally participate in the sport recreationally.
Kira currently resides in Los Angeles with her parents and her five-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, Kozmo.
