Tablets are easy to carry and fun to use, but the cost can be a major drawback. Datawind has come out with low cost tablets that do everything the top of the line tablets can do - find out more in the Kidzworld Review of The Datawind UbiSlate Tablet.

Datawind UbiSlate Tablet (7CZ and 7Ci)

Smartphones and laptops are everywhere, but tablets are the future in our opinion - the wider screens and faster processing times make them even better for reading, making video calls (like on Skype), composing long emails and best of all - playing games! The only hitch - tablets tend to cost more than your average electronic gadget and are also more fragile than a laptop or even many smartphones (just think of the look on someone's face when you drop their iPad!)

Datawind is an international company that has set out to make tablets that are accessible to everyone around the world, and won't break the minute they get dropped - just think how great it would be if classrooms everywhere could have tablets, no more pens, paper and mess right? Datawind had a few different varieties of their everyday tablet, the UbiSlate, and Kidzworld got to take their 7CZ and 7Ci models for a test drive. Check out the features of both below!

Why We Love It

When it comes to the important things, the Ubislate hits all the right points. It has a lightweight plastic casing, which makes sure that it's not only easy to carry, but when you or your family inevitably forget where you've put it, sit on it, drop it, it won't break. Just picture what happens when siblings fight over toys, only with electronics the chance of breaking your toy by fighting over it is a lot higher! The UbiSlates can take a few knocks and keep ticking (we're not saying you should play catch with it - but you probably could.)

Although it's not as slick as some higher end tablets, both the 7CZ and 7Ci UbiSlates come with basic apps to get you started and have pleasantly responsive touchscreens (although you might have to restart them now and then if they get stuck while browsing the web or playing games.) The 7Ci isn't as fast as a high cost tablet, but the upgraded 7CZ is fairly speedy and responsive if you're willing to shell out a little more. One of the nicest surprises about the UbiSlates is the quality of the cameras. All in all, it's a great durable product for a price that even the toughest parents can get onboard with!
