South African Sweetheart
You would never be able to tell on Pretty Little Liars (which is set in Pennsylvania), but Sasha Pieterse was actually born in Johannesburgh, South Africa on February 17th, 1996. The reason there's no trace of that distinct South African accent when she speaks is becaue she moved to the the US when she was just 3-years-old. Sasha was born into a talented family, her parents are both professional dancers who perform all over the world. Sasha used to love getting on stage with her parents, and by the age of 4 she had already snagged a modelling and acting contract!
Small Screen Success
Sasha started making waves in the acting world as soon as she started out, she played Buffy on A Family Affair and had guest starring roles on Stargate SG-1, but it was performance as a terminal cancer patient on House M.D. that garnered her a daytime Emmy Award nomination. That same year she also appeared in The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl as Marissa The Ice Princess. She also appeared in Good Luck Chuck and Wanted.

Pretty Little Liars
Before landing the role of Alison DiLaurentis on Pretty Little Liars, Sasha had a recurring role on Without a Trace and was in 8 episodes of the show Heroes as a girl with the power to spontaneously combust anything she put her mind to. In 2009 though, Sasha landed the coveted role of Alison, the most popular girl in Rosewood High whose disappearance and death spark her friends to discover that she was keeping an endless amount of secrets that lead to her death.
