Pretty in Portland
Anna Kendrick comes from Portland, Maine, her mother is an accountant and her father is a history teacher. She has one older brother Michael Cooke Kendrick (they both appeared in the film Looking for an Echo.) Anna kicked off her career at a young age, taking a bus to New York City when she was just ten years old for auditions. At 12 she got her first gig in a Broadway musical called High Society, for which she received a Theater World Award and was also nominated for a Tony! It was clear she had some talent from the start.
Broadway to Big Screen
Anna became well known for her work in theater as a young actress, but it was winning the role of Jessica Stanley in The Twilight Saga that launched her career on the big screen, from there she went on to star in Up in the Air and gained great critical success, she also starred in Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World as the lead character's sister, Stacey Pilgrim.

Amid all the great reviews she was getting for her work on screen, many people didn't realize that Anna was an accomplished singer, but she truly got to show off her great set of pipes when she won the role of Beca, a rebellious college student who finds her groove when she joins an a-cappella singing group in Pitch Perfect, which also featured Aussie comedienne Rebel Wilson. Anna is even featured on the soundtrack and she's managed to climb up the Billboard charts!

Did You Know....
It has been recently confirmed that Anna will be playing Cinderella in the movie adaptation of the musical Into the Woods, by Stephen Sondheim, set for release in 2014!
