Zoë Kravitz is the daughter of a rockstar and an actress, so you might say that fame runs in the family, find out more in her Kidzworld Bio!
It Runs in the Family
Born December 1st 1988 in Venice Beach, California, Zoë Isabelle Kravitz is the daughter of actress Lisa Bonet ( you may know her from The Cosby Show) and musician Lenny Kravitz (who appeared as Cinna in The Hunger Games!) She has mixed African American and Jewish heritage on both sides of her family. When she was 5-years-old her parents divorced and she lived with her mother til she was 11, and then her father later on (while still spending summers with her mom.) She went to high school and college in New York, but left college early to pursue acting.
Music Vids to Movies
Although she truly started pursuing acting during college, Zoë landed her first movie while she was still in high school, playing a babysitter in the Catherine Zeta-Jones romantic comedy No Reservations, and that same year was in the Jodie Foster film The Brave One. She also starred in some high profile music vids like Jay-Z's "I Know" and Will.I.Am's "We Are the Ones".
After that she was on a role, and took on challenging parts in independent films like The Greatest, Yelling to the Sky and It's Kind of a Funny Story (based on the novel by Ned Vizzini.)
X-Men to After Earth
Zoë took on superhuman powers when she appeared as Angel in X-Men: First Class, where she met and briefly dated her co-star Michael Fassbender before dating Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley (she and Penn recently parted ways.) She stars alongside Will and Jaden Smith in After Earth, and that's not where the sci-fi and fantasy stops, she's also been confirmed as a cast member in the book-to-movie adaptation of Divergent as Christina.
Did You Know...
Acting isn't Zoë's only interest, she also models, has released her own jewelry line and (just like her dad) fronts a band called Elevator Fight.
