Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher and Morgan Freeman, Now You See Me is the story of a group of Robin Hood-like magicians who use illusion to steal from the rich and give to the less fortunate. Kidzworld has the review!
Now You See Me
The Four Horsemen are part of the magic elite, and each member has been chosen for their particular skill set so that they can pull off each heist without a hitch, using illusion this team of Las Vegas magicians razzle dazzle their way into the pockets of the rich, but when their tricks empty a bankin Paris, it's the police who want to know what they've got up their sleeves!
The Four Horseman is made up of Atlas, a card shark (Jesse Eisenberg), a pickpocket with serious street smarts (Dave Franco),an immoral hypnotist (Woody Harrelson) and an alluring escape artist (Isla Fisher.) Morgan Freeman is also part of the crew as an retired magician-turened-skeptic and Michael Caine plays the man behind the money - a billionaire who makes the feats of illusion (and robbery) possible.
The Bottom Line
There's something intriguing about smoke and mirrors, and everyone loves a good Robin Hood tale - it means we get to root for the underdog and see justice done where the law can't step in (the magicians specialize in targeting institutions like insurance companies that won't pay). Now You See me relies heavily on the audience enjoying all the tricks and illusion that this almost superhero-like team of magicians can muster up, and is full of energy and imagination - it's true problem lies in actually explaining how they did it! Even the cartoonish french police characters seem at a loss, since the only way to nab these well-loved charlatans is to admit that they believe in magic. Done in the style of Ocean's Eleven, this heist caper will appeal to anyone who loves the idea of an antihero (or a crew of them) with more than a few tricks up their sleeves.
