007 Legends brings together several favorite James Bond movies. Does it live up to the Legends? See our game review for the details!
Last year, game developer Eurocom gave us GoldenEye: Reloaded, which was a very good remake of the original GoldenEye game. This year, they are delivering more than just one old favorite, 007 Legends features Goldfinger, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, License to Kill, Die Another Day, and Moonraker. It also starts and ends with the new movie, Skyfall.
Life Flashing Before Your Eyes
The game starts with a mission based on the new movie, Skyfall. James Bond, played by Daniel Craig, is accidentally shot by a sniper and falls into a river, where his life flashes before his eyes. You get to play through these flashbacks as five different missions in the game. However, all the famous scenes from the older movies have been made modern. From newer models of cars to the fact that Daniel Craig's face is used for all Bonds, it makes it harder for fans to enjoy the nostalgia.
Call of Bond
Certain moments in 007 Legends feel familiar, and that's a good thing. There's the scene from Goldfinger where Bond is strapped to a table and a laser is slowly burning its way to you. However, other moments feel familiar for not so good reasons. The gritty art style and gameplay is very similar to Call of Duty, but unfortunately reliving these moments is less exciting. Overall, the game sits in the middle. The action sequences are done well, but the stealth sections are very frustrating. The single player missions are somewhat bland, but the multiplayer can be quite fun whether in 12-player online or in four-player split screen. The worst thing about the game, however, is the fact that there is no ending. Instead, the final Skyfall mission must be bought and downloaded.
