This week on The X Factor it was the second season premiere, and audiences got to get to know the two new celebrity judges, Demi Lovato and Britney Spears! Find out more about the season premiere of The X Factor, Season 2, Week 1 which aired September 12, 2012 in the Kidzworld Recap!
New Judges
There are fresh faces this season on the X Factor judges panel with veteran pop star Britney Spears and teen queen Demi Lovato replacing Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. Both women seemed excited and nervous to be stepping back into the spotlight, but once they settled in they found their groove in no time. Britney Spears may have built her name on being a sweet Southern girl next door, but she surprised everyone by giving Simon Cowell a run for his money when it came to dealing hard blows and telling the straight up truth about someone's talent. Demi adds a youthful, fun element to the panel to spice things up and Simon and L.A. tell it like it is like the industry professionals they are.
Auditions
This week auditions took place in San Francisco, California, Austin,Texas and Providence, Rhode Island and there was no shortage of talent crooners and straight up crazies - in fact one wasky old man spitefully told Demi Lovato that at least he doesn't use auto tune when she told him his bizarre act wasn't working!
The show started off with a gorgeous 21-year-old Paige Thomas, a nursing student and mother, singing an outstanding rendition of "I'm Going Down" with Simon calling her "the full package." She's in! Skater band Emblem3 surprised the judges by killing it with an original number called "Sunset Boulevard" and also received green light for boot camp - although their snickering about the previous boy-band failure contestant seemed less than kind-hearted. As soon as Reed Deming walked in people were calling him a Bieber-lookalike and his voice didn't disappoint either, sending him to the next level. Janell Garcia tapped into her inner rock goddess and wowed the judges when she belted out her version of Grace and the Nocturnals "Ooh La La," which also got her a whole panel of "yes."
Memorable Moments
Not everyone who got through this week was a standout singing talent - Quatrele Da'an Smith walked onto the stage in a bridal getup and sang "Born This Way" and was so entertaining they all said yes! And one singer had a special connection with Demi when she talked about her own "stay strong" tattoo and problems with bullying, Jillian Jensen channeled her emotions into a heartbreaking version of Jessie J's "Who You Are" which left everyone in the room in tears - and sent her to the next round.
Demi wasn't the only one to have a connection that night, a former duet partner of Britney's auditioned after years out of the industry, and despite their history together she had to tell him no although it was clearly difficult.
