Are you ready for some football? The most popular sport in America starts this week! Let’s take a look at all the sports stuff going on in September…
NFL Opening Night
On Wednesday, the NFL kicks off the season with a game between two of the biggest rivals in sports history: the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants.
The Cowboys are losing their “Pride of Texas” image to the Houston Texans, a young and upcoming team that will probably make the playoffs this year. On the other hand, the New York Giants are coming off winning the ultimate prize as underdogs twice in the last 5 years, so nobody knows what they are capable of doing this year.
US Open of Tennis
On Saturday September 8th, make sure to catch the finals of the US Open tennis matches. Andy Roddick has announced that this will be his last tournament that he plays before he retires. So far Andy is still in the mix, so you might want to tune into watching some of his few remaining booming serves.
NHL Strike
Did you know that there might not be any hockey this fall? The player’s have gone on strike, and the owners have locked the doors to the arenas. So if the Mayans were right and December marks the end of the World, we’ll probably never see another NHL game again… Long live the LA Kings!!!
Major League Baseball Bonus
And of course there is always baseball to get some excitement going. The hottest team in the Major League is the Oakland Athletics right now. They have just won 14 out of their last 16 games and are sneaking up on the Texas Rangers for a playoff spot.
Soccer Strikers
For the rest of the World who likes to watch soccer… all the top Leagues have begun their new seasons including the Premier League and Spanish La Liga. La Liga is where you will find the best team in the World, Barcelona, who has the best player in the World, Lionel Messi. So far, Barcelona is 3-0 and Lionel already has 4 goals!
