Kidzworld reviews the sizzlin’ new One Direction Up All Night: The Live Tour DVD!
By: Lynn Barker
If you are a One Direction fan or just want to see what the fuss is about, we have the deets on the new tour DVD .
Fans are at a concert in Bromley, U.K. where each of the band members is introduced on huge screens. When the screens show images of crashing ocean waves, the guys rush on stage. While beach fun, fireworks, etc. play on the screens, the super energetic boys are always in motion, dancing, hopping or just walking while belting out their great harmonies.
One Direction calls the audience “absolutely amazing” to massive cheers. Throughout, lead vocals are shared and each band member gets his moment in the sun to talk to fans. There are several costume changes from casual to prep school duds to tux evening wear.
At one point fan tweets are projected on the screen and the boys single out each “tweeter” in the audience for an introduction to more massive cheers and some near faints.
Songs in concert are: “Na Na Na”, “Stand Up”, “I Wish”, “I Gotta Feeling/Stereo Hearts”, “Valerie/Torn”, “Moments”, “Gotta Be You”, “More Than This”, “Up All Night”, “Tell Me a Lie”, “Everything About You”, “One Thing”, “Save You Tonight”, “What Makes You Beautiful” and “I Want”.
Special Features
- You get three “Music Videos”: “What Makes You Beautiful”, “Gotta Be You” and “One Thing” and scenarios range from the boys at the beach to prep school, to a mountain retreat to silly antics on a park lawn and fan meet and greets.
- The short “On Tour With One Direction” is a black and white mini-doc with snippets from the concert you just saw in color but we get some cute backstage antics, a capella rehearsal songs and mini-bus travel. The guys tell us that they would tweet instructions to the next town like “Say I love cheese when we arrive” and yep, it would happen. We see the band leave after the concert.
Wrapping Up
If you are a One Direction fan you’ve gotta get this video. If you want to know more about the U.K. cuties, then rent it. Music videos are fun, the concert is well-shot and the sound is great.
Only downside for me was that it would have been great if the guys had taken a random fan from the audience up on stage like Bieber does and if there had been a few more candid interviews with the boys.
The DVD looks and sounds great and sometimes concert videos just don’t. Each guy is featured which is a plus and it’s nice to get the music videos as well as a short tour doc. You either love these guys or you don’t. If you are into them, this new tour DVD gets four stars.
