With the rise of the Oklahoma City Thunder as one of the most powerful teams in the NBA, the 2012 NBA playoffs will be that much more exciting! Are you ready for some last second buzzer-beater series-ending 3 pointers? Here is the NBA 2012 Playoffs Preview:
Last year the Dallas Mavericks surprised everyone by overcoming the heavily favored Miami Heat in the NBA 2011 Finals. Now with the emerging superstar play of Kevin Durant and the dominating Thunder, one more team is a threat to the NBA throne. Kevin is only 23 years old and he is emerging as the new face of the league. Will this year be his year to take the crown as the new King of the NBA?
Clipper Comeback
OMG, did anyone see the LA Clippers rally from down 25 points late in the 4th quarter against the Memphis Grizzlies? It was probably one of the most epic comebacks in playoff history and you can expect a huge andrenaline rush and confidence pouring out of all the players from this point on. The Clippers definitely are a threat in the West!
Derrick Rose Down and Out
In the first game of the playoffs between the Chicago Bulls and the Philadelphia 76ers, Chicago superstar Derrick Rose went down with a torn ACL as the Bulls were routing the 76ers at the very end of the game. The Bulls were considered the biggest challenge for the Miami Heat to break through the Eastern side of the bracket, but now that Derrick is out for the rest of the season, it looks like Miami is going to tiptoe into the finals waiting for one big challenge.
Loss of Lin
One of the biggest disappointments of the NBA season is the rise and fall of Jeremy Lin, the new point guard for the New York Knicks. After Jeremy came out of no where to lead the Knicks into the playoffs, a knee injury has taken him and New York’s hopes out of the running for a Knick championship.
West Side War
In the Western Conference, there are several teams that could emerge as contenders besides OKC and the Thunder. The LA Lakers are always a threat when Kobe Bryant is shooting fire with the emerging 7-foot Andrew Bynum leading the defense. The San Antonia Spurs are also a big threat, ending the season on a 10-0 run. And with the momentum from the big Clipper Comeback, they are even a Cinderella story work in progress. It’s anyone’s championship!!!
