Happy Easter! Hopefully you all had your fill of rabbits and chocolate eggs. It's time to get down to some serious video game business. This week's offerings are an interesting mix of old school fun with modern twists. Check out Legend of Grimrock, Skullgirls, and The Pinball Arcade!
Legend of Grimrock
Old school dungeon exploration games allow you to move through a maze of halls and rooms while fighting monsters and solving puzzles. Legend of Grimrock brings back this classic style of gameplay. Play as a party of four adventurers that you can create from scratch. Walk through each room and use the freelook ability to explore every nook and cranny. Battles occur in real time, where you must cast spells by following rune patterns written on a scroll.
Skullgirls
A new challenger has arrived! Skullgirls is a neat 2D fighting game that you can download on PlayStation Network or Xbox Live Arcade. Choose up to three girls to form your team, but don't worry if you only want to use one fighter! Single character teams benefit from higher health and damage while multi-character teams can tag out to recover some health and also do character assists for crazy combos. Skullgirls also features infinite detection, which gives you a chance to break out of long combos and easier inputs for special actions. Play online and claim the Skull Heart!
The Pinball Arcade
With the decline of arcades in North America recently, it's hard to get your hands on a good pinball machine. Thankfully, we still have video games! The Pinball Arcade is a downloadable game that features virtual versions of real pinball tables. The game comes with five tables and a promise of more via DLC.
