Give Me The Sugar

Sugar decides to host a Valentine’s Day party, and both Artie and Rory want to take her. Artie serenades her first and so she agrees to go with him, but later Rory lets it slip that his Visa is up at the end of the year and he’ll have to leave the country (although whether this is true seems dubious later). Sugar changes her mind and goes with him after learning he’ll soon be gone.

I Do, I Don’t

Mr. And Mr. Berry (Rachel’s gay dads, played by Jeff Goldblum and Brian Stokes Mitchell) have found out about Rachel and Finn’s engagement, and instead of disapproving they decide to try a little bit of reverse psychology and fully support their daughter, even inviting Finn over to stay the night after a Valentine’s dinner at the Hudson-Hummels. They make the announcement to everyone in New Directions and people generally seem to think it’s a bad idea but support the decision anyway. As Santana said “I support your decision to be unhappy with Finn for the rest of your life.” Despite bickering, they decide to go through with the wedding after Nationals in May.

Religion and Romance

New guy in town Joe (from “The Glee Project”) is now on the show as part of the God Squad with Quinn and Mercedes, and since New Directions turned down singing doing singing Valentine’s, The God Squad took up the torch. Santana orders a singing Valentine for her girlfriend, sparking debate in The God Squad on the topic of gay love. When it comes down to it though, love is love.

Mercedes may have confessed her love for Sam and belted out a heart wrenching rendition of “I Will Always Love You” (a Whitney Houston classic, and a nod to her recent passing), but she also breaks it off with him because she doesn’t know who she is when she’s in love.
