Finally, we get our first big releases of the year! This week we take a look at the beautiful fighting game, Soul Calibur V; the highly anticipated RPG, Final Fantasy XIII-2; and the game coming out on multiple platforms, Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle.
Soul Calibur V
Soul Calibur V takes place 17 years after the events of Soul Calibur IV. Custom character creation is back, but gone are the Soul Gauge, Parries, and Critical Finishes. Instead, there is a new gauge that works similar to the super meters in other fighting games. Charging up this meter will allow you to do a big attack. Armor can still be destroyed, but there is no real indicator showing when it will break. Guard Impact has been changed slightly so that it is easier and better now and you can also sidestep quickly to dodge your opponent.
Final Fantasy XIII-2
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is the direct sequel to 2009's Final Fantasy XIII. Three years after the first game, Lightning has disappeared and its is now up to her younger sister, Serah Farron, to find her. Expect to find a lot of your favorite mechanics again, such as time travel. Additionally, a lot of old issues in the previous game has been addressed. The game will bring back random encounters and will also have multiple endings.
Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle
Arriving on PC, PlayStation 3, Wii, and DS, Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle is a point and click adventure that will have you solving puzzles and outsmarting your enemies. Help Morgane become a famous pirate and find the treasure of the Golden Turtle.
