With winter comes a little wackiness. There’s blizzards, icicles, frostbite, and you might get brain freeze if you’re out playing hockey all night on the lake. Sometimes that brain freeze gives us some really looney ideas that turn into fun for everyone. Let’s take a look at some of the Wacky Winter Sports!
Para Skiing
There’s a new video on youtube that has a lot of people buzzing about paraskiing. It’s basically skiing with a parachute that let’s skiers go anywhere they want no matter how big the drop. Paraskiers can also do some pretty cool maneuvers in the air like flips and spirals… check out this amazing video:
Snowball Dodgeball
A much easier game to get going in the snow is Snowball Dodgeball. You can play this game with a bunch of friends in your backyard on a snowy day in winter. All you do is make two teams and try to hit each other with snowballs. When someone gets hit, they’re out and the team with the last person standing wins!
Ice Climbing
Do you love scaling cliffs and mountainsides during the summer months? Then you might want to give ice climbing a try. You get to wear boots with big teeth and use a pickaxe to make your path up walls of icicles and frozen waterfalls.
Snow Kayaking
Instead of sledding down snowy hills this year, slip into a freshly waxed kayak and enjoy an exciting new twist on traditional sledding. The kayak works like a sled, but the paddle allows for more control. Be careful, the wax will have you shooting down slopes at incredibly high speeds.
Polar Bear Swimming
One sport that will never lose its appeal is Polar Bear Swimming. This sport attracts all of the crazies. A lot of Polar Bears just jump into the water and get their adrenalin rush from the freezing cold water, but there are some swimmers that actually try to swim right across freezing cold glacier lakes.
