Funny man Will Ferrell has always loved to joke around! He started doing impressions early in life as a high school student when he used to read school announcements over the public school address system in different funny and disguised voices! Born on July 16, 1967 in Irvine, California, he grew up in the suburbs and entertained his friends and family with his jokes and goofing around from an early age. A little known fact about Will is that he still holds the record for the most field goals from when he played Varsity football in high school!
The Class Clown?
After high school, he wanted to become a sports broadcaster and even studied it in university and interned at NBC Sports. He couldn’t stop cracking jokes though even on the air in his college broadcasting classes so he decided to try out comedy as a career instead. We are so happy that he made that decision!
The Comedy Years
The California native started his career in comedy as a member of the famous NBC comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live. Other famous comedians and actors who started their careers on the show include Jimmy Fallon, Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers and Tina Fey! He was on the show for seven hilarious years and played numerous original characters and did impressions of famous people - his most famous impression being of former US president George Bush!
Movie Career
After Will left Saturday Night Live, he began his successful career in movies! He was nominated for an MTV Award for Best Comedic Performance for Old School and Elf and went on to make a series of great comedies including Zoolander, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Blades of Glory and Talladega Nights. He brings his unique comic ability to every single role and soon he lends his voice to the lead character in Dreamworks’ upcoming animated film Megamind. The movie is about a super-villain named Megamind (Ferrell) - a bad guy turned good. Also starring Brad Pitt, Tina Fey and Ben Stiller -you’ll have to go watch it find out how the story unfolds! With Will Ferrell in the title role, it’s sure to be a laugh a minute!
