Pick a Penguin
Club Penguin Game Day is based on the online role-playing website, Club Penguin. The video game provides fans with a new winter island full of activities. Players begin by creating their own penguin and choosing its color and name. From there one can choose Story Mode, Quick Play or Tournament. While the last two modes allow players to engage in their favorite mini games, the first allows for hours of competition.
Game On
In Story Mode, players choose from four different color teams (red, blue, green or yellow) and are presented with a task: conquer the island, ensuring the team color controls all areas. In order to control an area, the player must place third or higher in a collection of mini games. As the penguin completes mini games and earns coins new games and areas on the island will be unlocked. Players can also use their coins to purchase items for their penguin.
The collection of mini games in Club Penguin Game Day is perhaps the best around. Although there are a limited number of games, they play out differently each time, allowing for great replay value. Mini games range from shooting food into puffles’ mouths to snowball fights to sumo wrestling. While the games are fantastic, the controls can be frustrating. In order to move the penguin the player needs to point where they want the penguin to go and then click. Each mini game has a different way to move the penguin and complete the tasks, and it can be difficult to master all the maneuvers.
Keep on Waddling
Overall, Club Penguin Game Day is a highly enjoyable game that can be played individually or with friends. Players can even transfer information from the video game to the website, for more penguin fun. The game can be enjoyed by players of either gender and is not inclusive to a particular age range. It will have penguin lovers waddling late into the night!
