We recently got a cool new media player for review: the Nixeus Fusion HD. This wireless gadget can read and play back videos, music or photos from your computer right on your TV!
What’s a Network Media Player?
A network media player is a device that can read and play back all sorts of media you’ve got stored on your computer – everything from videos, MP3 music files and photos – right on your TV, wirelessly. The Nixeus Fusion HD is also able to access Internet content from sites like YouTube and Flickr.
Here’s a list of the kinds of media format the player supports:
- Video: avi, .wmv, .mpg, .iso, .vob, .ifo, .mp4, .asf, .tp, . ts, .m2ts, .mov, .mkv, MOTION JPEG
- Audio: MP3, WMA, AAC, Dolby Digital, DTS, FLAC, OGG, MPEG 1 Layer 2, PCM, WMA PRO, (Pass through): Dolby True HD, DTS HD
- Photo/Graphics: JPEG, PNG, GIF, Bitmap, TIFF
How Does it Work?
The Nixeus Fusion HD can play multimedia content from your computer wirelessly on your TV screen because it’s got a built-in Ethernet port and Wi-Fi connectivity. It’s also got the option to install a hard drive. We like it because it’s totally easy to install and start using. To add a hard drive, you just loosen four little screws, pull the top off and attach the drive.
Once you’ve got everything set up, you just hit the power button and wait for the intro screen. There’s a menu that’s also pretty easy to figure out, and once you’ve done that the Nixeus Fusion HD will play just about any kind of file you throw at it. And with so much media and Internet content out there these days, it’s a pretty handy device to have if you’re, say, working on a school project with friends or just want to watch a movie from your computer on a bigger screen.
