If you like the board game Clue, you will love Disney’s new video game Guilty Party. Kidzworld unravels the mysteries of the whodunit game in this review.
Choose Your Detective
Guilty Party is a modern take on the classic family board game, Clue, and is available exclusively for the Wii. Players take part in the Dickens Detective Agency, operated by a family of sleuths. You can choose to be one of six different characters, including a gardener, maid, journalist or butler. The story revolves around the Dickens family as they try to solve crimes that are being committed by their rival, Mr. Valentine.
Get a Clue
There are two different ways to play Guilty Party: a turn-based story mode or party mode. The story mode presents the player with crime scenarios that need to be solved. As each mystery is solved you will progress onto a more challenging one until you have finally captured Mr. Valentine. All of the mysteries take place within the Dickens’ mansion, which is presented similar to a dollhouse. Players move from room to room looking for clues and interrogating suspects, encountering a variety of mini games along the way.
You will need to find clues that help you narrow down four different traits: gender, height, weight and length of hair. This can be accomplished by successfully completing the mini games, which include bribing suspects with money, unlocking safes and winning staring contests. Although the mini games can be quite simple on the elementary level, once you progress to the advanced level the games become more difficult.
Whodunit?
While the game is rated E for everyone, solving the mysteries can actually be quite challenging. At first, the game guides the player along, pushing them in the right direction. But, similar to the mini games, as you progress it becomes much more difficult to decipher the clues. Once you have garnered enough information to narrow it down, you can accuse a suspect. If you are correct you will go on to the next level. If you are wrong you will have two more chances to guess correctly.
Guilty Party makes it easy for players to compete, and even offers the opportunity to put obstacles in your opponents way. With a high quality of graphics, a great storyline and challenging mysteries, this game will keep you coming back for more.
