Professor Layton, Legend of the Guardians, and Recettear

Sep 09, 2010

Keep up-to-date with all the latest video game releases! Kidzworld has all the latest games to keep watch for. This week, we preview Professor Layton, Legend of the Guardians, and Recettear!

Professor Layton and the Unwound Future

Professor Layton needs your cunning to save lives yet again, and this time, London is calling! A time machine has been invented, and Layton must use it to save London ten years into the future. Players get over 165 new puzzles to solve, all while exploring and investigating London's mysterious fate. Best of all, the story is told with beautiful animation and music, all on your compact and portable Nintendo DS. Now where has that prime minister gotten to?

Legend of the Guardians

So what's Legend of the Guardians? I've never heard of it. Okay, you say it's based on some cool books and a new movie, so what's in it? You play as a bunch of owls? That's pretty awesome, so what, do you just hunt rats in the middle of the night? No, you engage in medieval combat?! Okay, this is really awesome, so what else? You can customize your own owl and race it?!?! I don't think anything could be cooler than that. Hold on, the owls have English and Australian accents?!?!?! Wow, I... I think that's the coolest thing I have ever heard of in my entire life.

Recettear

The confusingly-named Recettear is a regular old RPG. Except you don't play the sword-swinging loot-grabbing adventurer, your character is the humble town shopkeep who sells equipment to a town full of adventurers. But life isn't all sitting around and haggling over prices, because you'll face an uphill climb trying to get enough merchandise to stock the store, and the characters you meet along the way can be crazier than a Lady Gaga video. Buy low and sell high, all to repay the debt your mysterious father left behind after taking on one adventure that was a little too, uh, adventurous.
