Back to school means tryouts for volleyball, basketball… badminton. It’s time to have some fun at school. Playing on any sports team is not only a lot of fun, but you might just pick up some great life skills too!
Future Forecasting
Your school days are the most important days of your life. Everything you do now will map out your whole future. If you get good grades, you’ll be able to get any type of job that you want. If you have some good quality friends that you love and trust, you’ll be very successful with relationships. If you play well on a sports team, you’re going to be healthy, fit and physically skilled.
School Sports’ Skills
Joining a sports team offers many benefits that you can use for the rest of your life. Here’s a quick list of some of the things that will look really good on your resume from playing on a school sports team:
- Leadership
- Confidence (higher self-esteem)
- Teamwork and Communication
- Sportsmanship (losing gracefully and winning humbly)
- Closer Friendships
Teacher Talk
If you would like to join a sports team, but you don’t know which one to try out for, a good way to start is by talking about it with your PE teacher. If you sit down with your PE teacher after the first day of classes, he or she will ask you questions that will help decide what team is best for you. Once you explain all the things you like, your PE teacher will direct you to the sport that you can sign up for the tryouts.
Friend Fun
Another thing you can do that is a lot of fun is team up with a bunch of your friends. On the first day of school, get together at lunch with your best friends and find out if any of them want to join a team. Brainstorm together and pick one or two teams to go to tryouts. Playing on a school team with your best friends will make your friendships even closer.
