Have you noticed how CRAZY it is getting at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa? This is one serious event with the pride of every country at stake, but it may be getting out of control. Now that the countries are losing their chance to qualify to the next round, people are starting to get way too desperate and too serious about winning and bad things are happening.
Frustrated Fan Confronts Beckham
After the last game between England and Algeria, an English fan snuck past all the security and into the England Locker Room. He was so mad, that he when straight up to David Beckham, England’s team ambassador, and he scolded him right in front of all the English players…
The fan looked David right in the eyes and said, “David, we’ve spent a lot of money getting here (South Africa), This is a disgrace. What are you going to do about it?”
French Whine
2006 World Cup 2nd place France has yet to score a goal in their first two games making it almost impossible for them to advance. After they lost 2-0 to Mexico, the players and coaches had temper tantrums fighting with each other on the sidelines. The team is so upset that they refused to practice on Sunday. Who knows if they will even show up to play their last game against South Africa?
Kaka KO
There has been a lot of dishonest play from the players and as games become more important, the diving is getting out of control. The worst incident was when Brazil was beating the Ivory Coast 3-1. Kader Keita from the Ivory Coast pretended to get hit violently by Brazil’s Kaka in the face. Kader bumped himself into Kaka, threw himself down to the ground, and clutched his face to try and persuade the referee that Kaka had punched him in the face. The replay shows just how bad the dive was, but it fooled the referee and Kaka received a red card and will miss the game. It’s hard to believe it happened but check it out in this video…
Silly Serious Sports
It’s great to have an event like the World Cup because it brings together the World. But we have to remember that it’s just a game… a silly game… not life and death. Too many people take it way too seriously and it starts to ruin the fun and the love of the sport.
