When Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon said "I do" to each other for the third time at their Beverly Hills home on April 30, 2010, Nick gave his wife of two years an odd piece of bling: a huge, diamond- and sapphire-encrusted bauble designed to look like the classic ring pop candy!
Video: Joke Jewelry
Check out this video, where Nick explains that the expensive ring he gave Mariah is sort of a joke: "This is for fun. This is what we do for toys. At some point you've gotta have a sense of humor about all of this. A sense of humor with diamonds."
The ring is made of white gold, diamonds and pink sapphires and comes in a special box with a "spinner" so "you can see it sparkle under the lights inside. Some of the actual candy ring pops had spinners, too. And, when Nick originally proposed to Mariah back in 2008, it’s rumored that he gave her a real diamond hidden in a ring pop candy wrapper.
Vow Renewal
Even though the ring was sort of a joke, Nick and Mariah take their marriage vows very seriously. The two, who married in 2008 after just six weeks of dating, plan to renew their vows every year on their anniversary.
