Prom is almost here! After spending loads of time picking out the perfect dress, accessories, shoes and hair style – it's important that you don't forget about getting your makeup just right for the big night!
You don't need to pile on so much makeup that you're unrecognizable, but you do want to change your look and make it a bit more special than the everyday. It's prom after all!
This can be as simple as putting on some bright pink lipstick, making your eye makeup look smoky or even adding some false eyelashes just for the night. We recommend Ardell false lashes, you can get them from the drugstore and they're both affordable and look great (we've tried them!).
The best way to approach prom makeup is to pick out one feature you want to make stand out and focus on that. Don't do BOTH a smoky eye and red lipstick. Focusing on just one feature makes it stand out more and looks way more chic and stylish!
Here are some of our favourite looks for prom!
Think Pink
The combination of pink cheeks and lips is a great look for that fresh and healthy, just-been-out-in-the-cold look.
Joe Fresh Beauty Cream lipstick in Strawberry, $6
Rimmel Blush in Santa Rose, $6.49
The New Smoky Eye
Taylor Momsen
A softer smoky eye is the key to this look. Dark brown eyeliner and a medium dark eyeshadow in shades of gunmetal grey, or even purple) are all softer than using just eye makeup. If you prefer a heavier smoky eye, use smudgy black kohl eyeliner and shadow.
Rimmel Colour Rush Eyeshadow Quad in Smoky Brown, $6.49
Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black, $11.99
A Pop of Red
Red lips have always been a striking look for evening. Just a pop of red lipstick is all you need. Tinted moisturizer to smooth out the skin as a base for the bright lip colour is also recommended.
Maybelline lipstick in Are You Red-dy?, $9.99
Almay Truly Lasting Colour Makeup, $16.99
Peachy keen
This sun-kissed look is perfect for warmer weather – peachy lips and cheeks flatter most skin tones and hair colours and manages to look both soft and natural.
